Because reality is not what turns in her work Philippine artist Gel Jamlang. “Radio music of life” is replaced in her works by the intricacies of the imagination. She bravely destroys the established images and collects them in a chaotic puzzles. Considering these puzzles is not easy – it is easier to guess.
A person is a key figure in each picture Gel Jamlang. “I love to depict the face, break them down, and then these parts are put on each other”, – says the artist. Because if we talk about portraits in her case, it is better to say about “portraits” of internal state. “I like the idea of surrealism because of its paradoxicality.
